A Solidarity Mutirão for Equitable Climate Finance
Brazil has long been at the forefront of developing innovative approaches to climate finance.
Building on this momentum, the Solidarity Mutirão is a new initiative led by Equal Right, in partnership with Instituto AYA and Global Redistribution Advocates.
It leverages Brazil’s unique policy environment to shape a South-South vision for financing a just transition.
Grounded in the values of the solidarity economy, this Mutirão is a structured consultation process engaging policymakers, civic society, Indigenous Peoples, researchers, and financial institutions.
The goal is to generate concrete proposals that reflect local priorities and global relevance.
Kicking off in August 2025
Consultation process: Stakeholder engagements online and across Brazil through bilateral meetings, public submissions, and targeted convenings.
Strategic events: Including at Rio Climate Action Week, a pre-COP event in São Paulo, and official sessions at COP30 in Belém.
Policy outcomes: A Zero Draft and Final Synthesis Report, to be delivered to the Brazilian government and the COP30 Presidency.
The Solidarity Mutirão will present a unified policy agenda on climate finance rooted in Brazilian leadership and Global South priorities. It aims to demonstrate practical models for redistribution, economic sovereignty, and inclusive development - outside the constraints of failing Global North-led approaches.
This work is designed to influence institutional uptake and international replication in the lead-up to COP30 and beyond.
Led by Brazil. Focused on justice. Ready for global application.
