Our Community Draw is a fun and engaging way for us to fundraise for our life-changing projects whilst giving something back to our supporters at the same time.

By paying for a ticket to the draw, you’ll be entered into a monthly lottery with a chance to win several cash prizes, including a jackpot prize of £25,000. Payments for the draw are debited monthly, and you can cancel at any time.

It is a local lottery, licensed by Bristol City Council (where we are registered) and anyone resident in the UK is eligible to play. We’ve partnered with Bee Ethical to make this possible, and they provide this service to numerous non-profit organisations across the UK. Equal Right does not provide the prize money, and there is no risk to us or our projects from running the draw.

Equal Right is working to advance the use of Basic Income for climate justice. We believe that direct, unconditional and individual cash payments can play an important role in helping communities on the frontline of the climate crisis to adapt to climate change, recover from climate shocks and compensate for climate losses. Too much climate finance is focused on markets, big infrastructure projects or opaque, top-down funds that fail to reach those most in need of support.

We want to change this, and inspire a bottom-up revolution in how climate finance works. We’re delivering projects in places like Colombia, Kenya and Tuvalu to demonstrate this, and need your help to develop and scale this work.

Equal Right pays a fee to Bee Ethical to use their platform for sales and to ensure we adhere to all regulatory conditions for lotteries in the UK. This is around ⅓ of all ticket sales. 100% of the remainder goes directly to our projects providing basic income to communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis, in places like Tuvalu and Colombia. These projects operate with minimal overheads and maximum efficiency, maximising the impact of your money.

The main benefit of playing is that it helps us build a reliable, recurring income to develop and scale our work - by playing monthly we know how many people we can reach each month with direct cash transfers. In addition, you benefit from the chance to win significant cash prizes and exclusive discounts via the Gourmet Society membership - so it’s a win-win for everyone!

The odds of winning vary month to month based on the number of entries, but generally the chances of winning with a local lottery are much better than other commercial, national lotteries.

The odds of winning a prize in the August 2025 draw were 1 in 142.5 and more specifically, winning the first prize of £5000 carried odds of 1 in 3,136. The odds of winning the Jackpot £25,000 prize was 1 in 18,816. 

The prizes are as follows:

• 1st prize is one winner, winning a payment of £5,000.

• 2nd prize is one winner, winning a payment £2,000.

• 3rd prize is 20 winners, winning payments of £50.

Bonus Prize is only eligible for the 1st prize winner to win, where they are entered into a bonus draw for a number between 1 and 6 for the chance to win one payment of £20,000.
